Challenge

The leading global manufacturer of ATMs required a part that would offer both the benefits of a high wear positive drive transmission belt and a top conveying surface with a high Coefficient of Friction coating.

This provides consistent feeding of a wide range of media, particularly in paper propulsion applications where it is important to avoid double / multiple picks (i.e. dispensing envelopes from a deposit machine).

Approach

Fenner Precision Development Engineers selected a Fenner Precision polyurethane timing belt for its high wear and positive drive transmission characteristics.

We then worked to develop a suitable method for the bonding of high coefficient of friction S47 silicone material to it.

Results

Polyurethane timing belts with a high friction S47 silicone coating are now available in different sizes and timing belt profiles.
