Grooved S47 Silicone Coated Tyres Designed for Printing, Mail Handling and Media Transfer Industries
Challenge
A leading global supplier in the printing industry required a high friction tyre to function inside their printers in order to improve the efficiency of their feed across a wide range of media including both glossy and smooth paper.
Approach
Fenner Precision Development Engineers worked closely with the customer and developed a Fenner Precision grooved tyre for its wide operating temperature range and high friction characteristics. To achieve this, they developed a silicone tyre with an outer layer of their high coefficient of friction S47 silicone material. Lateral grooves were then cut into the coating to aid dust removal and further improve frictional grip.
Results
Grooved tyres with a high friction S47 silicone coating are now available with varying hardness silicone base layers and with quantities and depths of grooves to suit customer applications. Yet another example of Fenner Precision designing a product to fit the customer's needs. Exactly!
