Silicone Sheet Facilitates Seamless Printing onto Ceramic Surfaces
A leading global manufacturer of decorative glass and dishware had a problem with their printing techniques; so they turned to Fenner Precision.
Challenge
A leading global manufacturer of decorative glass and dishware had a problem with their printing techniques.
They required a system of printing decorative designs onto pottery and other dishware, where the ink transfer process would be seamless. They needed a better release of ink onto their dishware compared to the system they had been using.
Approach
Fenner Precision understood the concerns of the manufacturer and realized they needed to design a sheet that acted similar to an ink pad.
This is where a specific design would be transferred onto the sheet, then transferred to the dishware, all whilst trying to waste as little ink as possible.
Results
The result was a very stretchy silicone sheet that had a high release for ink transfer. After many trials of different materials, silicone was chosen because it performed the best in every test case.
They were very satisfied with the finished product and have continued to purchase this same product from Fenner for well over 15 years.
